What is VLC Media Player?
VLC is a free, open-source media player that is very tolerant of damaged files — it often plays videos other players refuse to open. For AVI files with a broken index, VLC can fix the index while playing.
You can also use its Convert / Save feature to re-save a partly damaged video into a new, playable file.
